Designed at JBL's world-renowned acoustic engineering centre in Northridge, California, the 4309 is a bass-reflex bookshelf loudspeaker featuring JBL's revolutionary HDI ("High Definition Imaging") technology, which combines a compression chamber transducer and horn, and is ultimately responsible for its extraordinarily powerful and accurate sound.
The reproduction of the low-mid and low frequencies is entrusted to a 165-diameter bass-reflex-loaded electrodynamic loudspeaker that combines one of JBL's iconic Pure Pulp cones with a die-cast chassis.
Externally, the 4309 features the classic JBL monitor design with its iconic blue front panel, while the enclosure itself is finished in genuine walnut and dark walnut veneers and is completed by a blue or black protective grille. Also, the 4309 includes two sets of gold-plated connection terminals for easy bi-wiring.
