Based on the concepts and technical solutions used in the renowned Elysian 4 and Elysian 2, the Elysian 1 is a bookshelf speaker that uses a two-way bass-reflex system.
Like its older sisters, it incorporates a custom-developed AMT tweeter, a type of transducer in which a folded and extremely light diaphragm is attacked on its entire surface by rows of metal ribbons immersed in a powerful magnetic field.
The folds of the diaphragm contract and expand under the influence of the audio signal, squeezing the air between them to form the desired waveform. The Elysian 1 speaker package is completed with a 180 mm diameter "midwoofer" that combines a custom-developed low-distortion magnetic motor and a highly flexible rubber peripheral suspension to authoritatively reproduce frequencies of the order of 49 Hz. .
Performance that is subsequently improved thanks to the use of another Wharfedale exclusivity: the iconic SLPP bass-reflex port ("Slot-Loadd Profiled Port"), which ensures that the rear wave of the aforementioned "midwoofer" is not wasted. Specifically, what is done is to send the lowest frequency energy to a slot that covers the entire perimeter of the base of the speaker, whose profile has been specifically designed to equalize the high internal pressure of the enclosure to the low pressure of the speaker. the listening room.
The Elysian 1 is completed with a sophisticated crossover filter made from audiophile-grade components and tuned over hundreds of hours of listening to ensure perfect phase response and highly linear dynamic behavior across the entire listening space.
