Basic version of the extensive remodeling to which the legendary Sandwich speaker, originally marketed in 1961, has been subjected, the Sandwich 150 is a compact, attractive and affordable 2-way/2-speaker bass-reflex monitor that combines 1 textile dome tweeter 30 mm coated and 1 “midwoofer” with 170 mm Sandwich cone.
Carefully reintroduced and reimagined using the lessons of more than six decades of electroacoustics research and development, the next-generation cone that mounts the transducer responsible for reproducing low and mid frequencies consists of an extremely rigid aluminum coating on the external surfaces and a Very thick core, made of a structural foam based on polymethacrylate (PMI), often used by the aerospace and automotive industries.
The tweeter has also been the subject of an intense redesign process, incorporating a rear chamber with internal damping in order to absorb the rear wave of the transducer. This innovation not only isolates the tweeter from the rest of the set, but has the additional benefit of reducing its resonance frequency, something that in turn increases the level of integration of the different areas of the audio spectrum, improving the restitution of harmonics and therefore the capacity for analysis.
