A CD/SACD transport mechanism designed for those who already have a separate digital audio processor (DAC) or D/A conversion electronics included in another component of their Hi-Fi or Home Theater system.
Compatible with data CDs, SACDs and DVDs, the MCT500 can also play digital files encoded in popular formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, DSD (up to DSD128), FLAC, MP3, WAV (up to 24 bits/192kHz) and WMA recorded on data CDs and DVDs or on USB flash drives.
The MCT500 incorporates a total of four digital outputs, especially highlighting the exclusive McIntosh MCT, designed to preserve the transmission of DSD data from SACD discs. Another key element of this refined transport mechanism is the technological sophistication of its reading block, which uses a high-precision cast aluminum tray that, in combination with an advanced digital servo control, ensures extremely fast and silent operation. In addition, the data contained on the disk is read at twice the normal speed in order to improve data tracking and error correction.
The MCT500 is completed with one of McIntosh 's iconic glass front panels and, as always with the American firm, top-level construction.
