With an aesthetic and construction that fits perfectly with those of the preceding range, the DS2, the CD Box DS3 is a High End compact disc player at a very competitive price that combines a series of existing high-level design elements with others of new design, such as a D/A converter PCM1796 from Texas Instruments, to achieve an extremely precise restitution of the characteristics specified in the “Red Book” of the CD format (Digital Audio Compact Disc or CDDA). Hence the use of a very high-performance slot-loading transport mechanism that has been specifically optimized for the perfect reproduction (1:1) of the aforementioned standard and that, together with the advanced CD-80 Blue Tiger dedicated servo system, allows a extraordinarily precise control of the reading of each disc. The mechanical construction of the CD Box DS3 has also received special attention, combining an enclosure made entirely of aluminum with an intelligent 4-point suspension, 3 of them soft and 1 hard. Specifically, the “soft” suspension allows the reading block to be isolated from external vibrations, while its “hard” counterpart aims to evacuate high-frequency vibrations caused by the rapid movement of the laser head. The CD Box DS3 is completed with the optional possibility of adding the Pro-Ject Power Box DS2 external linear power supply, which allows improving parameters such as the realism of the sound scene, background noise and the resolution of small details.
