The flagship central speaker in the Sonetto range is based on a sophisticated 3-way, 5-speaker system that reproduces film soundtrack dialogue with extraordinary transparency and realism in all types of rooms. Furthermore, the reflex loading of the bass drivers via four ports located on the rear panel of the cabinet, in combination with the dedicated base, provides the user with great flexibility in installation both acoustically and aesthetically. More interesting, as a result of its pioneering use in a speaker at this price level, is the presence of the so-called “Voice of Sonus Faber”. A concept that at the engineering level is materialised in the combination of a 29 mm diameter silk dome tweeter with DAD (“Damped Apex Dome”) technology and two 150 mm midrange drivers with a cone composed of a special natural fibre. The two woofers, meanwhile, use 150 mm diameter aluminium diaphragms to maximise linearity and dynamics, while extending the frequency response curve down to 42 Hz. All these custom-made transducers are managed by another Sonus Faber classic: an anti-resonant crossover filter with optimised amplitude and phase response, Paracross circuit topology and impedance compensation in the low frequencies (to facilitate the work of the driving amplifier).
