Hybrid amplifier
PrimaLuna's first hybrid electronics, the EVO 300 Hybrid stereo integrated amplifier combines a tube preamp stage and a power amplifier section based on MOSFETs.
Specifically, the preamp stage uses one of PrimaLuna's well-proven 12AU7 six-valve configurations while the output stage combines perfectly matched Linear Systems JFETs and 20N20/20P20 MOSFETs to deliver 100 watts continuous power per channel into 8 ohms.
In terms of circuitry organisation, the EVO 300 Hybrid prioritises point-to-point wiring, but where necessary, the highest quality printed circuit boards (2.5mm thick instead of the 1.6mm of standard designs) with 105 um (instead of the usual 35 um) thick gold-plated copper tracks are used.
In addition, the preamp stage features two separate transformer power supplies, while the power amp features a single 500 VA transformer. As is standard for PrimaLuna, the starting point for all the above power supplies is the celebrated AC Offset Killer circuit from the Dutch brand.
