The next generation of the 8K/120 HDMI 2.1 video standard requires cables capable of transmitting the necessary bandwidth up to 48 Gb per second. Traditional copper HDMI cables only support 48Gbps over short distances of up to 7 or 8 meters. Fiber optics are necessary to transmit the signal over a much greater distance and at a higher speed, thereby avoiding any loss of quality, especially if you have large projection screens that require placing the projector at a considerable distance.
