Universal connectivity meets all-analog amplification in a simple hub that sounds much better than its affordable price suggests. All the essentials are covered with digital audio inputs for connecting TV and BD/DVD player, along with four analogue line inputs for CD player and everything else you can imagine.
In addition, the TX-8220 also increases its value thanks to the MM turntable input, DAB+ and FM/RDS radio tuners with 40 presets and integrated Bluetooth® technology. With just a few taps on a touchscreen or trackpad, or a few mouse clicks, music from apps emerges from your speakers thanks to Auto Connect.
See how the bass, treble and balance controls, speaker A/B unit and subwoofer pre-out let you calibrate the tone to suit unique speakers, customize a setup for multiple zones, and enhance low-frequency effects in movie soundtracks. With its simple, elegant design for maximum versatility, the TX-8220 offers great value.
Low-latency Bluetooth 4.1 wireless technology lets you stream virtually any audio played on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC apps. The Auto Connect feature makes pairing and music playback even quicker and easier, with improved stability that reduces loss in audio quality.
Search and store 40 FM/RDS and DAB+ radio stations for easy one-touch access at any time. The RDS function provides detailed station and song information while listening. Bring a huge variety of programming into your listening space, from news and sports to music and talk.
Aimed at music and movie lovers who want to add exceptional sound to various media sources, the TX-8220 is generously equipped with audio connections. The receiver is one of the few at this price that includes a quality MM platter stage for your turntable. It also has digital inputs to send the TV audio to the speakers through the amplifier. Four analog line inputs are included in case you prefer to have the source device do the D/A conversion, or to connect a phone or DAP.
Pair the TX-8220 with your favorite speakers and add surround sound to everyday entertainment by streaming audio to TV shows, vinyl and CDs. Independent amplifiers, powerful EI transformer and custom capacitors provide high driving power with low distortion. The high current controls the speaker cones and provides more precise control, thus rebuilding the vibrancy and nuances of the music. At the same time, the wide-range non-phase-shift circuitry focuses on the sound image.
Dynamic passages in music and movie soundtracks can cause significant impedance spikes and dips for brief moments. This can increase the typical load on your amplifier by 10, and if your amplifier can't keep up with demand, sound quality will suffer. Onkyo 's high-current, low-impedance WRAT design includes a powerful EI transformer that delivers accurate sound to the speakers, even under very high loads.
TX-8220 features two pairs of speaker connections, allowing you to connect two pairs of speakers. The receiver is designed to transmit to a single pair of 4–16 O speakers, or two pairs of 8–16 O speakers, allowing you to enjoy the same audio source in two rooms at once, or alternate easily between two sets of speakers.
The bass, treble, and balance buttons are useful for adjusting the tone characteristics of your music to obtain the ideal response for any type of speaker. These carefully designed tone circuits, which some receivers don't include, allow you to customize the sound to your own taste, without any loss in perceived audio quality.

Bookshelf speakers
The Klipsch R-50M bookshelf loudspeaker has a power handling capability of 85 watts RMS (up to 340 watts peak) with a sensitivity of 93 dB, making it suitable for use with most hi-fi and home theatre amplifiers on the market.
It incorporates a larger Tractrix horn, running from one edge of the speaker to the other. Combined with a 2.5 cm aluminium dome tweeter, the new Tractrix horn significantly improves the propagation of mid and high frequencies towards the listener, resulting in a more accurate spatialisation of the soundstage. The Tractix horn also increases the efficiency of the tweeter in the mid frequencies, thus requiring less power from the amplifier. In addition, the tweeter is mounted on a Kapton LTS suspension, which provides excellent damping of body vibrations. Therefore, the sound emitted by the Klipsch R-51M is easily intelligible, accurate and affected by very little distortion.
The Klipsch Reference R-51M uses a 5.25" diameter low-end driver. Its copper-coated TCP (Spun-Copper Thermoformed Crystalline Polymer) cone adopts a crystalline structure that makes it structurally stronger and stiffer, while maintaining its light weight. This improves the impact and responsiveness of the diaphragm while preventing degradation caused by repetitive movements. The loudspeaker is housed in a slightly larger enclosure than the previous generation, which increases the volume loading and consequently reduces the low-cut frequency to 58 Hz. Of course, this speaker can be combined with a subwoofer for even better bass response and impact.
The Klipsch Reference R-51M is housed in an MDF cabinet with a black wood-look textured vinyl finish. The absence of visible screws on the front panel and the larger Tractrix horn give it a very elegant look. The speaker comes with a magnetically attached speaker grille.
The Klipsch R-51M bookshelf loudspeaker covers a frequency range of 62 Hz to 21 kHz. Its power handling capability is 85 watts RMS, with the possibility of handling up to 340 watts peak. Its high sensitivity (93 dB) and 8 ohm impedance allow it to be used with most hi-fi and home theatre amplifiers, even those of modest power. It can be used both for hi-fi listening as a main speaker and in a home theatre system as a surround speaker.
