This superb, newly designed three-way, five-speaker bass-reflex column is the flagship of a series that adopts the values that inspired its celebrated predecessor - the Olympica - while adding a spectacular amount of state-of-the-art technological developments.
Thus, the panels used in the Olympica Nova V are made of eight layers of bent and pressed wood that provide extreme rigidity to the enclosure, with carefully placed structural ribs used inside as reinforcement to reduce vibration and handle the full acoustic power generated by the movement of the speakers.
The front panel is made of hand-finished natural wood to enhance the entire enclosure, and real leather cladding is applied around the tweeter, midrange and woofers. In addition, the exterior of the unique Stealth Ultraflex bass-reflex port, characterised by extremely low turbulence, is made from a solid block of extruded aluminium.
In terms of electro-acoustic technology, the Olympica Nova V is fitted with a silk dome tweeter with DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology from Sonus Faber, accompanied by a midrange speaker and three woofers derived from those used in the Homage Tradition collection, with several significant changes. In the case of the woofers, they feature a cone that benefits from a sophisticated sandwich structure in which two sheets of cellulose pulp flank a state-of-the-art syntactic foam core.
A frequency divider filter based on the Italian brand's exclusive "Paracross Topology" is responsible for the management of this loudspeaker assembly, which substantially reduces the sensitivity to radio frequency interference, improving the response to transients and reducing background noise. Let us finally point out that the Olympica Nova V rests on an elegant aluminium structure combined with steel decoupling tips.
