In the EPICON 8, two 8" woofers are complemented by a 6 ½" midrange driver where the layers of a recording, vocals and instruments are presented delicately separated and defined. The woofers' innovative linear pulsing magnet system is complemented by our hybrid dome and ribbon tweeter module. It all adds up to a bigger sound. In effect, this box has a '3 + ½ way' construction. Each side of the EPICON 8 is constructed from 6 individual layers of MDF, glued together, and anchored to 63mm multi-layer MDF backbone, 10mm thicker than the backbone of the EPICON 2 and EPICON 6 to maintain absolute control. CNC milling process is applied on the backbone to make the recess and holes for the bass ports and terminals. The 33 mm thick double-layer front baffle ensures that the energy from the drivers is radiated as acoustic energy, and not as vibrations in the cabinet. The curved shape of the front baffle is also a contributing factor in ensuring an acoustic platform estable.Internamente the enclosure for EPICON 8 is divided into two identically sized chambers for the woofers and an extra chamber for the midrange. The woofer chambers allow the enclosure to be adjusted identically and completely independently for each of the two woofers. The midrange chamber allows the driver to reproduce the critical frequencies related to human voices without any interference from the rest of the system. At the rear are two bass ports, located as close to the subwoofers as possible. Both ports are positioned conically-convex at both ends to minimise port turbulence. At the bottom of the box, however, you will see that the wiring crossover is mounted in its own enclosure, free from the dynamic pressure variation inside the cabinet of bass reflex enclosures.
