Based on MartinLogan's celebrated electrostatic/electrodynamic hybrid loudspeaker system concept, the ElectroMotion ESL X is a stylish loudspeaker designed to integrate seamlessly into all types of domestic spaces, while its features give it a versatility that allows it to form part of very high-performance Hi-Fi and Home Cinema systems.
From a technical point of view, the most relevant feature of the new MartinLogan is that it incorporates an improved CLS XStat electrostatic panel to reproduce the middle and upper zones of the spectrum which, by having a larger emission surface, means that the sound dispersion in the horizontal plane is 30 degrees, while in the vertical plane it is the equivalent of a linear source of just over 1 metre in height.
As is the norm in all MartinLogan hybrid designs, the lower part of the spectrum is entrusted to a subwoofer located at the base, which combines two 203 mm diameter treated paper cone electrodynamic loudspeakers with an asymmetrical, non-resonant bass-reflex loaded chamber.
These drivers are capable of large, distortion-free displacements, which, in conjunction with the enclosure design, means that the EM-ESL X's frequency response curve ranges from 41 to 22,000 Hz, despite its very small footprint. Finally, elegant decoupling cones ensure that the EM-ESL X is perfectly positioned in any room.
