Klipsch The R-800F is the replacement for the Klipsch R-820F and differs from it in several respects. It features an all-new Tractrix horn and a new-generation mid/bass driver. The aesthetics have also been revamped, resulting in a more attractive look with no visible screws. The lines are smoother and the finish stands out from the previous generation with its premium look. The Klipsch R-800F floorstanding loudspeaker has a power handling capacity of 150 watts RMS (up to 600 watts peak) with a sensitivity of 98 dB, making it suitable for use with most hi-fi and home theatre amplifiers on the market.

For decades, the acoustic horns fitted to Klipsch loudspeakers have been one of their most iconic features. The US manufacturer has been using this technique since the invention of the loudspeaker, at a time when amplifiers only produced a handful of watts. This new generation of Klipsch Reference loudspeakers sees its Tractrix horn increase significantly in size, running from one edge of the speaker to the other. Combined with a 2.5 cm aluminium dome tweeter, the new Tractrix horn significantly improves the propagation of mid and high frequencies towards the listener, resulting in a more accurate spatialisation of the soundstage. The Tractix horn also increases the efficiency of the tweeter in the mid frequencies, thus requiring less power from the amplifier. In addition, the tweeter is mounted on a Kapton LTS suspension, which provides excellent damping of body vibrations. Therefore, the sound emitted by the Klipsch R-800F is easily intelligible, accurate and affected by very little distortion.

The Klipsch Reference R-800F uses two new-generation bass-midrange transducers with a diameter of 20 cm. The copper-coated TCP (Spun-Copper Thermoformed Crystalline Polymer) cone adopts a crystalline structure that makes it structurally stronger and stiffer, while maintaining its light weight. This improves the impact and responsiveness of the diaphragm while preventing degradation caused by repetitive motion. These transducers are bass-reflex loaded. The port at the rear of the speaker leads to a Tractrix horn that optimises airflow for generous, lively bass without distortion or turbulence. Of course, this speaker can be combined with a subwoofer for even more bass response and impact.

The Klipsch Reference R-800F has an MDF cabinet with a black wood-textured vinyl finish. The absence of visible screws on the front panel and the larger Tractrix horn give it a much sleeker look than the previous generation. The speaker comes with a magnetically fixed speaker grille.

The floorstanding speaker Klipsch R-800F can easily be combined with the vertical effects speaker Klipsch R-40SA to deliver Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound effects. It has a dedicated Atmos effects input next to its main terminal, which leads to an output at the top of the rear of the cabinet. Once the Klipsch R-40SA loudspeaker has been placed on the Klipsch R-800F floorstanding speaker, it is very easy to connect it. Connect the "Height" terminal of the floorstanding speaker to the "Height" output of the amplifier, then connect the top terminals of the Klipsch R-800F to the terminals of the Klipsch R-40SA (wires supplied with the Atmos speaker).

The Klipsch R-800F floorstanding loudspeaker covers a frequency range of 34 Hz to 21 kHz. Its power handling capability is 150 watts RMS, with the possibility of handling up to 600 watts peak. Its high sensitivity (98 dB) and 8 ohm impedance allow it to be used with most hi-fi and home theatre amplifiers, even those of modest power. It can be used both for hi-fi listening and in a home theatre system as a surround speaker.
