At the pinnacle of the new range, the CSA150 is a perfect example of the idea of the integrated amplifier as a combination of preamplifier and power amplifier in a single chassis. With a state-of-the-art hybrid circuit topology (using tubes in the input section and transistors in the output section), the Copland CSA150 incorporates power amplifier circuitry with current feedback topology, which allows it to deliver peak power in excess of its rated output, to the point of ensuring full compatibility with virtually any loudspeaker available on the market.
Several design elements of the new Copland are worth noting, the first being the combined use of the Swedish company's classic double-triode gain stage (the much-loved and reliable 6922) with a separator stage, based on MOS-FET transistors, to ensure a seamless interface between the tube and solid-state sections.
As for the DAC functionality of the new Copland, it features one of the sophisticated ES9018 32-bit ES9018 D/A conversion chips (SABRE32 Reference range) from US-based ESS Technology, whose 8 channels are combined in 2 blocks of 4 to achieve spectacular records in terms of resolution, distortion, transparency and dynamics.
