NAD C389 + MDC2 BluOS-D module
Pack content
The NAD C389 HybridDigital DAC amplifier can serve as the cornerstone of a high-performance audio system now and for decades to come. Employing NAD's proven HybridDigital amplifier design and the same ESS Sabre DAC used in the acclaimed M33 BluOS streaming amplifier, the C-389 will deliver impressive dynamics and exquisite detail from all your sources.
With its comprehensive set of digital and analogue inputs, including an ultra-low noise phono preamp and an eARC HDMI input interface, the C389 can act as the brains and brawn of your sound system.
For vinyl enthusiasts, the NAD C389 features a precise MM phono preamp section with accurate RIAA equalisation, high overload margins and extremely low noise. The phono preamp section incorporates innovative circuitry that suppresses the infrasonic noise that is always present during vinyl playback, without affecting bass performance.
For private listening, the C389 features a dedicated headphone amplifier with low output impedance and very high voltage output capability, making it a good match even for demanding studio headphones. The C389 also features two-way wireless Bluetooth, compatible with Qualcomm's aptX-HD codec, for 24-bit streaming from your smartphone or tablet, and wireless playback via Bluetooth headphones and speakers.
It also incorporates the latest generation of NAD's future-proof modular design construction technology, making it easy to add exciting features such as BluOS high-resolution music streaming and Dirac Live room correction.

The MDC2 BluOS-D expansion module allows you to add DIRAC Live Room correction and integration into the BluOS streaming ecosystem to modular design NAD devices.
The MDC2 BluOS-D is the first expansion module offered by NAD to add Dirac Live* room correction to a two-channel component. Owners use the supplied calibrated microphone and the intuitive Dirac Live app to analyze the acoustics of their room, then load the correction filters into the MDC2 BluOS-D module. The MDC2 BluOS-D module can store up to five Dirac profiles for different listening positions and room conditions, for example whether the curtains are open or closed.
In addition to correcting peaks and dips in frequency response, Dirac Live optimizes impulse response by learning how sounds are reflected from different surfaces in the listening space. The result is a dramatic improvement in bass clarity, imaging and timbral accuracy in music and movie soundtracks.
The MDC2 BluOS-D module also features BluOS high-resolution music streaming. Available for iOS, macOS, Android and Windows, the flexible BluOS Controller app provides access to hundreds of Internet radio stations and more than 20 streaming services. Like all BluOS products, the MDC2 BluOS-D module supports high-resolution playback up to 24-bit/192kHz, as well as MQA. With the MDC2 BluOS-D module, users can share music from any source connected to the host component with up to 63 BluOS-enabled components on the same network. Playback can also be controlled using Alexa or Google voice commands, and from smart home control systems from Crestron, Control4, Lutron, RTI and others.
The MDC2 BluOS-D module not only includes the latest Wi-Fi and Ethernet protocols, but also supports Apple AirPlay2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect, and features two-way Qualcomm aptX HD Bluetooth. There's also a USB port for playing music from a connected USB drive. With an MDC2 BluOS-D module installed, MDC2-capable components can play music from a wide range of local, network and cloud sources. And thanks to its two-way communications architecture, MDC2 is prepared for technology upgrades that have not yet been conceived.
