The SPU Mono GM MkII is Ortofon 's answer to enthusiasts of monophonic recordings on microgroove vinyl records (marketed in the 1950s) who are looking for a very high quality transduction system with an output level loud enough to avoid the use of dedicated phono preamplifiers or transformers.
A series of modifications made to the design of the signal generation system incorporated in the SPU Mono CG 25 Di mkII model allow the SPU Mono GM mkII to deliver a voltage of 3 mV at its output, making it compatible with practically any section for existing moving magnet cartridges in integrated amplifiers and preamplifiers.
On the other hand, the use of the exclusive scheme for the capture and transduction of monophonic signals developed by Ortofon means that the Mono GM mkII SPU can deliver the same signal in any of its two pairs of connectors, thus facilitating the reproduction of those through any traditional stereo equipment.
