Solutions that have been possible thanks to Ortofon 's unique experience and know-how in the field of materials science, magnetism, mechanical design and cutting-edge technology that have allowed the performance of the new model to be optimized.
Thus, the SPU Century incorporates the same magnetic system as the SPU Classic series models, in order to preserve the essence of the original design, as well as the elements used in the construction of the aforementioned system. Still, both the internal structure and many of the key elements of the SPU Century have been completely redesigned thanks to the use of such exclusive procedures as a revolutionary custom-made version of Selective Laser Fusion (SLM). The use, in the SPU Century, of an aluminum alloy has provided additional improvements to the overall rigidity of the structure, as well as its internal damping.
The final result is a controlled reduction of the vibrations present in the body of the capsule, which is completed with a complex high-precision computer-controlled machining and a “Diamond Like Carbon” (DLC) coating, a type of carbon similar to diamond. ). Another essential innovation of this exceptional pickup cartridge is the use of a Nude Shibata diamond pickup tip – considered one of the best cuts available – mounted on an aluminum cantilever.
