The Thorens SPU TD 124 capsule represents an evolution of the classic SPU capsule design with several improved optimizations for optimal compatibility with the new Thorens TD 124 DD.

The SPU 124 features a revised generator system that allows for an output voltage of 0.5 mV, relaxing the requirement for high voltage transformers or active preamplification systems.

While still using a highly polished bare elliptical cantilever stylus, the mass of the stylus tip has been significantly reduced, resulting in reduced VTF and increased bearing force and better reading angle.
