Starting point of Ortofon 's popular 2M series of moving magnet (MM) cartridges, the 2M Red is first notable for incorporating the exclusive "split pole pins" system, a development that allows moving magnet cartridges to exhibit a frequency response curve with the same uniformity as its voice coil counterparts. Equipped with an elliptical stylus and an improved signal generation system that allows it to optimize sound reproduction and exhibit a high level of sound precision, the 2M Red delivers a 5.5 mV signal at its output that ensures perfect adaptation with the phono circuitry of any integrated amplifier or preamplifier on the market.

On the other hand, the design of its structure (made in collaboration with the Danish studio Moeller Densen Design and inspired by the cuts of a diamond) facilitates integration into all types of arms, to which is added the possibility of mounting from the side. lower and even on those arms that do not allow the retaining screws to pass through the upper area of the headshell holder.
