Collectors of records released in the prehistory of High Fidelity have in the 2M 78 the perfect tool to rediscover their 78 rpm Shellac monophonic recordings thanks to a configuration specifically designed for this. This configuration is based on the use of an improved signal generation system developed by Ortofon that allows the same output signal to be delivered in any of the two pairs of available connectors.
Together with a custom-made 65 um spherical needle, the aforementioned system allows optimizing the reading of records at 78 revolutions per second, whose perfect reproduction requires the use of larger reading tips, in any traditional stereo equipment. Likewise, and like the rest of the models in the 2M series, the 2M 78 is available in a version for mounting from the bottom and on those arms in which the fixing screws cannot pass through the top of the headshell holder.
