In 1979, the Concorde looked radically different from any other pickup cartridge made to date. However, the initial sources of inspiration for this development were the search for a less heavy stylus to mount on the VMS system and designing an integrated capsule-holder assembly that could be easily mounted on a tonearm without the need to use screws or connect cables. It was award-winning industrial designer Jan Trägardh who was responsible for Concorde's unique aesthetic.
Four decades later, the Concorde 40 Anniversary brings a profound engineering remodel to the original model, especially highlighting the use of Ortofon 's improved 2M Blue signal generation system, which provides it with a higher output level and a generous passband, being the The result is a high level of sound precision that is manifested in an open, balanced, dynamic and detailed musical transcription. Equipped with a Nude diamond stylus with an elliptical profile and divided polar temples with a copper wire, the Concorde 40 Anniversary uses, like the original model, an integrated cartridge-headshell assembly design that can be mounted directly on equipped S-arms with a universal/SME connector.
