The Nucleus represents the culmination of an exhaustive effort in product design and engineering, combining the extensive experience of the Roon team in the development of hardware for multimedia servers and in software development. Several objectives were kept in mind in its design, the first of which was to have a Roon Core (the “brain” of the Roon ecosystem”) without the need to resort to a PC/Mac computer or a NAS unit.
The second objective of Nucleus is to have sufficient computing power to support Roon's current and future requirements. Added to this is ease of use that does not require customer service once the system is installed, as well as the possibility of downloading software and firmware updates “on the fly” that can be managed by the end user. Likewise, the Nucleus has been designed to operate robustly and reliably, with little maintenance, and to be liked by audiophiles, which is why it contains no fans or moving parts.
