The music streaming service was once questioned for its quality. The situation has changed thanks to products like the CXN100. Its predecessor, our award-winning CXN V2 network player, featured two integrated Wolfson DACs, class-leading components at the time. The CXN100 has been updated with new technology. Its unique ESS 9028Q2M DAC chip is a good example. It sounds better (and better measured) than any DAC we've previously put in a network player. Additionally, the sync filter inside the ESS 9028Q2M is so good that a post-DAC filter is not required, simplifying the signal path and thus less technology interfering with your music.
With the addition of the CXN100 to Cambridge's range of network players, all of our streaming products now use ESS DACs. We appreciate their efficiency but, more importantly, we love the way they sound. Although the casing may look familiar, the CXN100 has undergone a great revolution. We have spent many hours listening and swapping critical audio components such as capacitors and amplifiers to fine-tune the entire post-DAC analog stage. We then measure to support evidence from our sound tests. The result? Higher signal-to-noise ratio, reduced distortion and a flawless digital music experience.
When used with a compatible amplifier, such as the award-winning Cambridge CXA81, the balanced XLR connections provide the best possible analog link. This offers better resistance to interference, especially on long cable runs.

At our London headquarters, we've been perfecting StreamMagic for over 10 years. The intelligent combination of hardware and software is what powers all of our network players. We have now advanced to the fourth generation of the streaming module. It is the same one you will find in the Evo all-in-one players. This latest module allows you to enjoy the latest file types and resolutions, up to 32-bit/768 kHz, DSD512 and MQA in amazing quality, as well as having built-in Bluetooth for easy connection. The associated StreamMagic app is intuitive and powerful, allowing seamless control of your music, no matter where you stream it from, whether it's internet radio, Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer or downloaded music files. MQA technology folds the original high-resolution file (be it WAV, FLAC, etc.) to reduce it for easy transmission. These files will then play on any device that can decode the container, but only devices with a built-in MQA decoder will “unfold” the file to reveal the entirety of the originally recorded track.
The CXN100 uses mpeg-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) and HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) support out of the box, enabling higher quality, more consistent live streams, creating an intimate experience over Internet radio. It's the same technology that guarantees a smooth experience on Netflix, as it prioritizes streaming continuity and decides quality based on available bandwidth. Most importantly for Internet radio users, because the CXN100 supports DASH, your favorite radio stations will be received in higher quality streams when available.
The CXN100 could well be described as the brain of your hi-fi system. Thanks to its fantastic internal DAC and wide range of connections, it also offers adequate and improved sound quality for other digital music sources, such as CD transports or CD players with digital outputs. On the back of the CXN100, you'll find 2 digital inputs (1 TOSLINK optical and 1 S/PDIF coaxial) for connecting digital sources. There's also an asynchronous USB input perfect for PCs and Macs; use this connection to access music at the highest resolution (up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512). Local files stored on a USB drive can be connected to the USB Mass Media port and Bluetooth offers easy playback from a mobile phone or similar device. Have we forgotten something?

Often, the screen of a hi-fi system can seem like something secondary. Not with the CXN100. Along with all those new internals comes a larger, brighter 1280 x 569 TFT display for monitoring album art and drive status. In addition to facilitating switching between albums, creating playlists or setting presets, the app allows simple and intuitive navigation of all connected sources from the comfort of the sofa. With CXN (V2) you get even more control by being able to search through music playing from your computer, NAS, USB or Spotify to record your favorite musical moments.
All audio is upscaled to 24bit/384kHz Hi-Res format using a polynomial curve with interpolation. Each song is even more precise, so that the user can enjoy musical nuances that have never been available to them even if they have heard the song a thousand times before.
