The McIntosh DS200 Streaming DAC is the ultimate solution for music enthusiasts who demand the perfect combination of high-end audio quality and seamless streaming capabilities. This easy-to-use transmitter offers a variety of integrated streaming technologies to reproduce streamed music.
No special control applications or technical skills are required to use the DS200. You can easily stream your favourite music directly to the DS200 from your smart device, while enjoying listening to it in superior sound quality on your home audio system via the built-in high-end digital-to-analogue converter (DAC).
The DS200 is compatible with Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, allowing you to seamlessly stream your music from the cloud directly to your devices. Then, if you use either of these music streaming services (including TIDAL HiFi Lossless Quality), you can continue to use those apps on your phone or tablet and stream music directly to the DS200. Your device then effectively becomes a remote control for adjusting volume, song selection and other playback functions.
Additional streaming options included are Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth and Google Cast™ which allow streaming directly from a smart device to the DS200. All of these wireless connection options make it easy for guests to stream their favourite playlists to the DS200 during family events or parties.
The DS200 is equipped with two Wi-Fi antennas and a Bluetooth antenna for stable wireless connections and an Ethernet port for wired connections. It is also compatible with Google Assistant for voice control; simply speak to your Google Assistant control device to operate your DS200.1
For Bluetooth streaming, the DS200 uses Bluetooth 5.0, the high-bitrate Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) standard and Qualcomm aptX™ HD for high-resolution audio playback. It also includes Qualcomm aptX Low Latency, which improves audio transmission speed to deliver sound synchronised with applicable visual media.
The digital-to-analogue portion of the DS200 that converts streamed digital music to an analogue format that your amplifier and speakers can play is powered by a 32-bit, four-channel, next-generation 8-channel DAC. This audiophile-grade DAC features huge dynamic range and low distortion for flawless sound reproduction.
The DS200 DAC is also a Roon Ready terminal device for use with the Roon music player. Roon collects all your music and aggregates tons of data: biographies, reviews, photos, lyrics, tour dates and cross credits for performers, songwriters, producers, engineers and composers. Roon Ready network devices have Roon streaming technology built in and are certified by Roon to provide the highest level of network streaming quality and performance. It also received Roon Tested certification, as Roon profiled it to ensure easy setup and effortless daily use.
In addition to streaming, the DS200 features 8 digital audio inputs for connecting audio components with digital audio outputs, such as a CD player or tuner. It supports high-resolution digital audio playback, as its USB input supports native playback up to DSD512 and DXD up to 384 kHz, while the coaxial and optical inputs can decode digital music up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
With its HDMI (ARC) input, the DS200 is perfect for watching your favourite TV shows and movies in audio quality that TV speakers or soundbars simply can't provide.2The popular Dolby and DTS multi-channel audio formats will be expertly converted to two-channel audio for proper playback.
The DS200 has a pair of balanced and unbalanced analog outputs for connection to your preamplifier or integrated amplifier. We offer both balanced and unbalanced cables to make these connections. It comes from the factory in fixed output mode, which means that the volume would be controlled by your preamplifier, integrated amplifier or other component with volume control, but offers the option to set its output to variable mode. Variable output mode allows the DS200 to be connected directly to a power amplifier in an audio system that only has digital audio sources, and the DS200 would control the volume.
The DS200 Streaming DAC is designed with the timeless aesthetics of McIntosh and high quality materials, such as a black glass faceplate, rotary control knobs, illuminated logo and custom machined aluminium end caps. A data input port along with power control ports allow for seamless integration with other McIntosh components, while the RS232 control port can be used for more advanced installations. A remote control is included.
