The S5X are optimized for translating binaural/immersive mixes between headphones and speaker setups (e.g. Dolby Atmos).

Using GRAS 's Kemar HATS simulator, we captured the frequency response of a certified Dolby Atmos studio. That was the basis for the development of the prototypes that were later used in A/B tests with human subjects.

We all perceive spatial sound differently. A/B testing with multiple mix engineers gave us a deeper understanding of what is required from headphones to translate an immersive mix between binaural and speaker setups. We applied all that knowledge to the design of the S5X.

Replaceable perforated synthetic leather/velvet hybrid ear pads allow control of flow resistance around the ear pad seal, resulting in smoother response across all frequency bands and better heat dispersion.
