With its bandpass design, each woofer is housed in a sealed enclosure, perfect for protecting the business end (motor, voice coil, suspension) from external contaminants such as moisture, debris, and wildlife. The better shielded front side (cone) of the woofer is fired into a ported enclosure to take advantage of the high acoustic efficiency of a vented lineup. In this way, the IGS 212 is the best of both worlds: sealed and vented.
The cabinet is colored linear low-density polyethylene that expels moisture, dirt and chemicals. UV-inhibiting pigments are evenly embedded throughout the material so the sun won't fade its color or turn yellow.
