The IG4M is a limited bandwidth outdoor satellite speaker, intended for use with a subwoofer and a power amplifier with a 90Hz, 18dB/octave high-pass filter (crossover), such as the NEAR amplifiers from the XL series.
The 120-degree dispersion of IG4M satellites means that fewer speakers are needed to cover an area with high-quality sound than using conventional systems with a 60-degree dispersion. Every listener in the coverage area will hear full performance sound without low-fidelity "dead" zones or "hot" zones with too loud volume.
Selection of 70V power levels or low impedance operation is via a rotary switch (left) located under a protective cover. When used in low impedance mode, the satellites' 16 ohm load allows up to four IG4Ms to be connected in parallel and safely driven by typical AV receivers.
At the bottom of the IG4M cabinet are two IP-67 rated "Perfect Fit" sockets (right) that allow for convenient daisy-chain wiring of multiple speakers on a single signal line. The connectors are keyed to prevent wiring polarity issues, while their double O-ring design keeps out water and dirt for long-term signal integrity.
The cabinet is colored linear low-density polyethylene that expels moisture, dirt and chemicals. UV-inhibiting pigments are evenly embedded throughout the material so the sun won't fade its color or turn yellow.
