With Go Link Max, you can get power back with up to 241 mW of output, which is about 5 times more power than the headphone jack on a MacBook Pro. However, higher output doesn't just mean more volume. In music production, dynamic range is the difference between the loudest and softest sounds. It is measured in decibels or dB. In a single audio track, dynamic range is the difference in dB between the loudest and softest moment in the audio file. You can think of the dynamic range of a system as the space between the noise level and the cutoff point. When a sound is below the noise floor, you will not be able to tell the difference between the signal and the system noise in the middle. When a sound is above the cutoff point, the upper parts of its waveform will be abruptly cut off, causing harshness and distortion. IFi's patented technology extends the dynamic range by 6 dB or more, for an enhanced listening experience.
Digital volume controls are the hidden enemy of modern high-resolution audio. When you turn down the volume on a phone, tablet or computer, the output is artificially reduced by reducing the data sent to the DAC, resulting in a significant loss of audio quality.
