The MC312 is a state-of-the-art transistorized stereo power amplifier that improves on its predecessor in numerous critical parameters, as a result of the introduction of substantial technical improvements. The most notable of these improvements is without a doubt the increase in filtering capacity by almost 100%, which in turn has made it possible to substantially increase the overall dynamic range and turn the MC312 into an extraordinarily agile power stage without hardly any distortion and with a spectacular bass response.
On an aesthetic level, the MC312 retains all the iconic elements of McIntosh amplifiers with the addition of some subtle touches of modernity. Thus, the front panel uses LED backlighting to improve both appearance and color accuracy, while two of McIntosh 's emblematic Autoformer transformers and an opulent power transformer (all mounted in dedicated enclosures with top panel of glass) ensure maintenance of performance at any volume level.
The MC312 also includes two of McIntosh 's exclusive Monogrammed Heatsinks heatsinks to maximize the thermal stability of the advanced high-current, high-speed response transistors in its output section, plus two iconic elements from the American firm: the treated glass front panel and two elegant analogue VU meters with a blue background.
