The MC462 is a next-generation stereo power amplifier that replaces the celebrated MC452, improving it in numerous critical parameters as a result of the introduction of substantial technical improvements.
The most notable of these improvements is without a doubt the increase in filtering capacity by almost 50%, which in turn has allowed the overall dynamic range to be increased by 66% and turn the MC462 into an extraordinarily agile power stage. with hardly any distortion and with a spectacular bass response.
On an aesthetic level, the MC462 retains all the iconic elements of McIntosh amplifiers with the addition of some subtle touches of modernity. Thus, the front panel uses LED backlighting to improve both appearance and color accuracy, while two of McIntosh 's iconic Autoformer transformers and an opulent power transformer (all mounted in dedicated enclosures with top panel glass) ensure maintenance of performance at any volume level.
The MC462 also includes four of McIntosh 's exclusive Monogrammed Heatsinks heatsinks to maximize the thermal stability of the advanced high-current, high-speed slew transistors in its output section, plus two iconic elements from the American firm: the treated glass front panel and two elegant analogue VU meters with a blue background.
