The new MI502 stereo power amplifier is a flexible component and a welcome addition to a custom installed audio or home theater system. It delivers world-renowned McIntosh sound quality with a power output of 500 watts into 8-ohm speakers or 800 watts into 4-ohm speakers. It uses high-tech closed-loop digital switching amplifiers and rugged power supplies that produce levels of performance rarely heard in custom-installed audio.
The applications are almost limitless on how to use the versatile MI502 in your home entertainment system. It can be used to power the front left and right speakers of a home theater system; to control two in-wall subwoofers; a pair of MI502s could control your home theater's three front channels plus a subwoofer; or to power distributed audio speakers installed in another room in your house.
The MI502 is rack-mountable and has a mounting height of 2U, making it easy to install in an equipment rack via the included mounting brackets (mounting brackets are removable for rackless installations). As a highly efficient Class D amplifier, it requires no noisy cooling fans to maintain rated operating temperature, so all you'll hear is incredible audio sound that will impress you and your guests.
On the front panel are two blue McIntosh watt meters that display the power output of each channel, while multi-color LED indicators show the status of each channel. The rear panel includes a pair of balanced and unbalanced inputs for connecting the MI502 to your preamplifier. A pair of our standard 5-way speaker binding posts are included to connect your speakers.
The MI502 includes many McIntosh design cues, including a black glass front panel, our coveted blue watt meters, an illuminated McIntosh logo, and a familiar form factor highlighted by silver trim.
