Integrated into the reference range -RS- of Pro-Ject 's surprising and effective Design Box electronics, the Pre Box RS Digital is a very complete product that combines all the functions of the powerful DAC Box RS digital audio processor plus a circuitry of preamplification with extremely linear response whose output section can operate, at the user's choice, with transistors configured in Class A or with tubes (6922 triodes). Added to this is a very high-performance headphone amplifier with adaptable output impedance to achieve a perfect adaptation to all types of headphones, while an analog input allows the user to even connect a turntable. As is standard with all Box Design RS Series models, the Pre Box RS Digital uses a fully balanced architecture with XLR and RCA input and output jacks. In addition, it is possible to select between two D/A conversion “chips” (PCM1792, 24-bit/192 kHz and very musical; PCM5102, 32-bit/384 kHz and more analytical). Finally, the presence of an I2S interface with a separate master clock signal output makes the Pre Box RS Digital the best possible complement to the exclusive CD Box RS transport mechanism by drastically minimizing the jitter rate.
