Heralding McIntosh 's long line of tube preamplifiers, the C2700 combines the American firm's celebrated vacuum-based circuit topology with the advanced D2 Digital Audio module to take full advantage of new high-resolution audio formats.
Worthy successor to the popular DA1, the DA2 expands the possibilities of the former by combining the six digital inputs of the first (2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB and 1 MCT) with an HDMI type compatible ARC (Audio Return Channel) to facilitate the Enjoy TV shows using a single digital connection.
On the other hand, the DA2's DAC functionality is compatible with DSD512 (22.4 MHz) recordings thanks to the use of an audiophile-grade 8-channel D/A conversion chip with 32-bit technology, configured in Quad mode. Balanced to maximize dynamic range and minimize distortion.
Additionally, McIntosh 's exclusive MCT input allows for a secure DSD connection with any of the brand's CD/SACD transport mechanisms to optimize the sound quality of SACDs. When it comes to analog connectivity, the C2700 includes a total of 9 inputs, including two for turntables, as well as 3 variable level outputs in balanced and unbalanced formats.
Meanwhile, the two-chassis design keeps the analog and digital sections completely separate to preserve the integrity of the audio signal. The C2700 is completed with a headphone jack powered by the exclusive Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD), ensuring compatibility with all types of headphones.
