Includes Ortofon Quintet Black.Integrado capsule. Integrated into the prestigious Pro-Ject Classic range, the Xtension 9 Evolution stands out first of all for the refined minimalism of its design, which is combined with dimensions that allow it to adapt to any furniture/rack for audio components available on the market. Of the new Pro-Ject turntable, the first thing that stands out is a chassis made of very thick MDF that combines high mass and low levels of resonance, to which is added a floating subframe with magnetic suspension. The combination of this scheme with a massive 30mm thick platter whose construction uses a metal alloy optimized by Pro-Ject engineers and additionally cushioned with thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) allows the Xtension 9 Evolution to exhibit exquisitely neutral behavior in mechanoacoustic terms. The squaring of the circle is completed with the top coating of the plate, made of recycled vinyl and which behaves like a perfect mat. The entire assembly – actually an innovative and elaborate “sandwich” structure – is “baked in the oven” to subsequently be subjected to high-precision balancing. Added to this is the extremely quiet operation provided by the use of an inverted ceramic bearing with magnetic support and a belt drive with electronically controlled rotation speed. The new Pro-Ject turntable is completed with a sophisticated 9cc Evolution carbon fiber tube arm and headshell designed and built by the Austrian firm.
