The Pro-Ject Xtension 8B is a high-end turntable loaded with premium features. From its large and heavy MDF wooden chassis, to the precision-turned aluminium main platter with TPE damping, to the 9" Evolution arm with the Ortofon Quintet Blue capsule, it is a complete solution for high-end audio systems.
The main platter is precision-cut from a single piece of aluminium and coated with a TPE rubber damping ring to produce a heavy, non-resonant base that contributes to high-precision velocity stability with very little jitter. It is mounted on an inverted ceramic-tipped main bearing, reinforced with magnetic support, for smooth rotation without resistance and is driven by a perimeter drive belt, connected to a low-noise AC motor.
The motor is controlled by an AC generator with adjustable speed control at 33 and 45 RPM, as well as a clean, low noise power signal.
The Xtension 8B is pre-installed with the popular 9CC Evolution carbon fibre arm from Pro-Ject. The 9CC EVO can be found on many popular high-end turntables and features a one-piece tapered carbon fibre arm tube, mounted on a heavy bearing block with high quality ABEC 7 ball bearings. The arm is also VTA and azimuth adjustable for perfect capsule mounting.
The Ortofon Quintet Blue capsule, of the MM moving coil type, is renowned for its detailed musical performance and perfectly complements the X8's own high-end capability.
The Xtension 8B is also part of Pro-Ject's True Balanced Connections concept. When connected via a 5-pin XLR cable (not included and available as an option) to one of Pro-Ject's balanced phono preamps (such as the Phono Box DS3 B), you can benefit from higher dynamics, less external magnetic interference and an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
It comes with height-adjustable TPE damped feet, a removable dust cover, a felt mat and an RCA cable for easy setup right out of the box. It is available in high-gloss black, high-gloss white or real walnut veneer finishes.
