An exceptional value for money turntable based on the same concept as the legendary Pro-Ject 1 (marketed in 1991), but improved in every aspect, thanks to the use of modern materials and advanced manufacturing methods. Thus, the chassis is made of state-of-the-art MDF, which is much heavier, denser and less resonant than the chipboard used in the original model.
The platter itself is made of methacrylate, bringing more mass and a less resonant character to a critical element that is complemented by a superior bearing for ultra-stable rotation. Added to this is an AC motor decoupled from the turntable base by a new suspension system and sophisticated speed control circuitry, creating a perfect platform for reading vinyl.
The X1 is also superior to its predecessor thanks to the 8.6-inch carbon fibre and aluminium arm entirely designed and built by Pro-Ject, which incorporates an extremely lightweight and rigid design with improved resistance to external interference. Manufactured in one piece, this readout arm allows adjustment of VTA and azimuth, offering a flexibility of adjustment that is unusual in such an affordable turntable. In addition, a TPE damped counterweight is included to further reduce resonances of the arm-capsule assembly.
The X1 is completed by height-adjustable aluminium/TPE sandwich structure feet and an 8-layer, entirely hand-finished paint finish, giving it a seductive touch of exclusivity.
