As for the vinyl player itself, the 6 PerspeX Balanced features a Corian sub-chassis with magnetic suspension that maximises isolation from the surrounding environment and ensures the truest possible pick-up of the micro-information contained in the record groove. Also contributing to this is the elaborate construction of the platter, where an acoustically inert MDF sandwich structure minimises, with the extra help of a thin vinyl layer, possible discolouration during the reading process.
As is the norm at Pro-Ject, this turntable uses a belt drive via an AC motor driven by a DC generator, the available speeds being 33 and 45 rpm, both electronically controlled. As far as the turning system is concerned, it includes an inverted ceramic ball bearing with the aim of guaranteeing a virtual absence of friction, while the readout arm, equipped with high-precision bearing rings (ABEC 7), is the advanced EVO 9 CC, designed and built entirely by Pro-Ject in its own facilities.
