The new The Classic Reference combines technical finesse and luxurious design like no other turntable. It builds on The Classic EVO and the experience we gained designing our iconic turntable for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The motor is powered by a DC-driven AC generator that creates a completely clean sine wave to ensure maximum speed stability.
The Classic Reference is available with the limited edition VPO Anniversary MC cartridge which was tuned together with members of the Vienna Philharmonic and built in Europe by Ortofon according to our specifications.
The cymbal is precision-machined from a special aluminium alloy with a TPE ring inside, which offers special damping capabilities.
The diamond-cut aluminium subplate can be machined to much better and lower tolerances compared to standard plastic subplates. It adds more mass to the entire crankset and drive system, resulting in additional damping of unwanted noise and resonances.
The subframe isolates the crankset and arm from the resonances of the engine and main pedestal. The floating aluminium chassis is supported by decoupled TPE damping balls.
The Classic Reference is equipped with our high-precision EVO 9 AS HG arm. It uses an inverted ABEC 7 Swiss quality cardanic bearing with 4 stainless steel pins. The bearing sits in a heavy aluminium housing, which provides the necessary stability. The huge outer ring is open to avoid resonance. For the EVO AS arms, we use a special S-shaped aluminium tube with the highest internal damping, combined with an SME type head. The inner wiring is made of high-purity flexible copper, which is an optimal conductor for the small phono signal.
The new The Classic Reference offers additional classic RCA and balanced XLR output jacks. The great advantage of a balanced connection is its ability to eliminate picked-up noise and interference.
It includes a practical and stylish Clamp it clamper, a soft leather it mat that eliminates noise caused by static and dust, a transparent acrylic Dustcover and a high-quality copper Connect it Phono E RCA interconnect cable, with an optional balanced mini XLR cable connection not included.
