The M6xTT turntable establishes the design philosophies of the legendary M1 turntable in our M6 line. The design of the M1 was created by Musical Fidelity founder Antony Michaelson and Heinz Lichtenegger, then distributor of Musical Fidelity and now owner of the brand. The design was very important and had to match the mechanically impressive amplifiers.
The basic idea was to combine the inert mass of metal alloys with resonance-free acrylic. The motor was effectively decoupled from the arm and the cymbal with the double chassis construction.
It was a great success and after the M8xTT turntable, now the M6xTT turntable is second in line to bring a more affordable version of this design philosophy to the market.
The 9-inch arm has the same design as the M8xTT turntable, but with a shorter arm tube, a streamlined head design and a direct DIN 5P output. It incorporates our ultra-low resonance design with clear acrylic bearing ring and tapered aluminium arm tube. The arm is fully adjustable in VTA and azimuth and comes with two counterweights, which are damped with TPE to prevent resonance.
The motor sits on a special foam on the lower level acrylic pedestal to decouple it from the platter and arm. The electronic speed control allows you to switch between 33 and 45 RPM.
Like the M8xTT turntable, the M6xTT turntable is equipped with the same sophisticated speed control technology. The motor is powered by a precision DC AC generator for maximum speed accuracy and stability. This means that the frequency and voltage of the motor is generated completely from zero by our control electronics and is not limited by the quality of the mains supply when it comes to achieving perfect playback speeds.
A one-piece belt, made without glue, connects the motor and the TPE-damped platter, which is made of aluminium and weighs no less than 6.6 kg.
Four heavyweight TPE-damped aluminium feet with magnetic support connect the two acrylic plinths with Teflon spacers between them. You can adjust the height by turning the knurled centre part of the feet to level the turntable.
A heavy aluminium disc (clamper) is included to stabilise the vinyl records by correcting possible undulations.
Also included is a leather turntable mat, which is an excellent base for your vinyl records. You will benefit from less noise and a special sound characteristic.
To connect your M6xTT turntable to your preamplifier, a semi-balanced phono interconnect cable with gold-plated connectors is also included.
A clear acrylic protective sleeve, not included, is available separately.
